Update (SPOILERS)

PLEASE DON’T READ AHEAD IF YOU’VE MISSED THE LAST FEW EPISODES OF PARKS AND REC OR PARENTHOOD. THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS!!!

With the end of the semester and projects in every class, I’ve fallen a little behind on my blog. But I wanted to do a little catch up!

So first things first, LESLIE KNOPE IS PREGNANT. WITH TRIPLETS! Thoughts? Leslie is so caring and loves to dote on others so I can’t wait to see her as a mom!

Haddie came back on Parenthood. For the first time in 5 seasons, Parenthood has introduced an LGBT storyline. Haddie comes back and it is revealed that she began dating a girl while away at school. Ultimately the family was accepting of it. Haddie hasn’t really been on the show too often as she’s been “away at school” but I’m really hoping to see more of her next season and for the writers to follow up with this storyline.

Also, Amber was visiting Ryan while he was in the hospital after his [pretty serious] accident. It was hinted at that the two of them slept together and Amber was even shown picking up a pregnancy test. Now this could have just been a tactic to invite viewers back for next season. However, I noticed at dinner that Amber was the only one drinking water as opposed to soda or wine. (interesting!)

There also seems to be a lot happening romantically for the other couples on the show. Zeek and Camille are finally moving out of the family home and both seem so happy. There seemed to be a light at the end of the tunnel for Joel and Julia and it looks like things are back on for Sarah and Hank. I’m so upset the season is over, I don’t know what I’m supposed to do with myself until next fall! Maybe I’ll just restart the series on Netflix 😉

How to Live Like Your Favorite NBC Characters (Leslie Knope) #keanreporting

Image

1. Stand your ground on things. If you don’t like something, make it known. Leslie never follows the crowd. If she believes in something, she will fight for it. (ex. Nobody believed she could unite Pawnee and Eagleton, but she never stopped working to bring the towns together and bring peace.)

2. Love yourself. Leslie knows she is a strong and smart woman who can handle almost anything. She understands the importance of loving yourself and knows that you can’t love others if you don’t first love yourself.

3. Love what you do and work hard at it. A lot of people get a job and stay with it for the money or benefits or for the simple necessity of needing a job. Not many people are as lucky as Leslie to find something that they love and can’t wait to get out of bed for. Leslie (who works for the Parks Department of her town and more recently has become a part of the Pawnee City Council) loves her job and everything it entails. Which leads me to #4…

4. Genuinely care about things. When people in the town come to Leslie with problems, she doesn’t solve them just to make herself look good or get the people to leave her alone. She genuinely cares about their problems and making them better.

5. Love waffles. If there’s one thing Leslie loves more than her friends, it’s waffles.(“We need to remember what’s important in life: friends, waffles, work. Or waffles, friends, work. Doesn’t matter, but work is third”) Order waffles. Make waffles. Eat waffles. Smell waffles. Just love waffles. All kinds.

6. Go above and beyond for your friends. Leslie is the best friend anyone could ask for. I really wish she was real cause I would kill to have Leslie as my best friend! From Galentines Day to working on finding Ann true love, Leslie always wants to make sure her friends are happy.

7. Hug people. A lot. Leslie loves hugs and affection and showing her friends and Ben (her husband) how much they are loved. Whether or not they want to be hugged (April, of course, will run away every time) Leslie will chase them down for a hug.

8. Dance (whether you can or not). Bust out some moves and show how happy you are. Leslie will celebrate life’s small victories with a dance, which makes them seem that much better.

Leslie is all about love, good vibes, hard work, strong beliefs, and friendship. Living life like her isn’t always easy, but it sure makes it more fun! April said it best: “And if you’re lucky enough to be her friend, your life gets better every day. She spends every waking moment thinking of new ways to make her friends happy. There is something wonderful about seeing someone who has found her true purpose on earth. For some people, I guess that’s being an astronaut or a hot dog-eating champion. For Leslie, her true purpose on earth, her true meaning, is making people’s lives better.”

NBC Struggles to Find New Comedy Hit #keanreporting

(News Story)

NBC has been having a difficult time finding a prime-time lineup that measures up to the past. Previously, NBC has had fan favorite comedies like Seinfeld, Friends, Will and Grace, and The Office.

This fall, the network welcomed back former NBC TV star, Sean Hayes with his own show, Sean Saves the World. However, the show did not fair well. The reviews were negative and the ratings were poor. Tim Goodman of the Hollywood Reporter said “One line after another comes out manufactured and pointless, just like those before it.”  Needless to say, not many were surprised when the show went on to get cancelled. Hayes said of the show’s failure, “NBC programs great shows, it just doesn’t have the eyeballs CBS does.”

Another show NBC was excited about was The Michael J. Fox Show, but only a few weeks after shutting down Sean Saves the World, it too was given the boot. The chairman of NBC entertainment, Rob Greenblatt told The Hollywood Reporter, [the show] “It’s certainly what I hoped for [creatively] because I love the show but I would have hoped for a larger audience”.

Greenblatt told reporters at the Television Critics Association, “We’re going to still work hard to see what we can do on Thursday nights. It is a real, real uphill battle.” With shows like Parks and Recreation and Community, doing well with fans, NBC can still claim some success, however, they are still looking for that home-run comedy. Only time will tell if new-comers About a Boy and Growing up Fisher will make the difference and bring more viewers, or fall in the black hole and be looked-over and forgotten. Stay tuned!
